Course Description
** NON REFUNDABLE COURSE FEE** $650.00SPECIAL NOTES: Attendance at Intensive is required to successfully complete courseResidential intensive takes place April 6 - 9, 2019 at Juniper Well Ranch, Skull Valley, AZ.The intensive fee of $650 covers instruction, facility, horses and food. The fee is non-transferable and non-refundable. Students will need to contact Juniper Well Ranch prior to the intensive to contract and pay for their own accommodations. Food and instruction only is covered in the course fee. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course supports advanced study and practice of equine-assisted mental health (EAMH) as a treatment approach in counseling and psychotherapy. Students will explore how EAMH can be applied within various counseling theories and incorporated into treatment for different populations. Emphasis is placed on the potential for equine-assisted services to optimize treatment through appropriate application. Indications, precautions and contraindications as well as advanced elements of ethics, cultural considerations and examination of standards and research in EAMH. Students will critically assess and articulate their view of current best practices in EAMH.This course supports advanced study and practice of equine-assisted learning (EAL) as an approach within education, facilitation and coaching fields. Students will explore how EAL can be applied within learning theories and used in services for different populations. Emphasis is placed on the potential for equine-assisted services to optimize outcomes through appropriate application. Indications, precautions and contraindications as well as advanced elements of ethics, cultural considerations, research in EAL, and the examination of standards in the field.
