Personnel Management in Education
Course Description
This course provides an overview of the concepts and practices associated with developing andmanaging an effective education team. Recruiting, training and nurturing instructional and non-instructional faculty and staff members, as well as effectively addressing other personnel issues in education will be examined, including obstacles to effective team development, through such strategies as reading, dialogue, shared presentation, group and individual investigation, and written response. Educators will gain practical knowledge for leadership roles in education and will acquire the skills necessary educational leaders to act professionally and ethically in carrying out their responsibilities in this area. Topics included will be statutory and procedural issues, human resource planning, recruitment, selection, professional development, and evaluation. Educators will also explore those social and ecological issues that appear germane to the course, such as conflict resolution, and formal and informal negotiations.This course satisfies PreK-12 administrator certification requirements, as well as supporting non-certification sustainable leadership requirements.
