Shape of Place: Culture, Ecology, and Vi
Course Description
This course explores the deeply integrated relationships between place, society, and ecological systems through a regenerative lens. Students will critically examine how different environments influence cultural identity, social equity, and ecological resilience. Focusing on regenerative design principles, students will analyze case studies of leading-edge projects that are using living-systems thinking and biomimicry principles to transform and enhance human and more-than-human relationships and address contemporary challenges such as housing, food security, and social inclusion through intentional design practice. Students will learn how to integrate ecological restoration, community design, and systems thinking to envision and plan for places that support both human and non-human life.
